This is my first attempt at a Maxim inspired shoot. I know I have a long way to go, but not bad for a first attempt I would say. I have a new appreciation and understanding of the Maxim way, thanks to two wonderful ladies who took the time to explain it to me (being 47 I have a different perception of beauty and what is sexy). But I learned...It's not about the backdrop/background, it's not about the pose. The Maxim way is to concentrate solely on the women in front of the camera. All eyes are on her and she must be able to captivate all with a certain look, a standard pose and of course with her outfit. Not an easy feat! I dare you to give it a try...
So hats off to those women who aspire to be a part of the Maxim way. Who dream of their photos one day adorning their pages. You are confident women, and although I may still have my own personal views about what is sexy and hot and beautiful, I do admire you for doing what you do. And I can tell you, as a photographer, concentrating on only the woman and not worrying about backdrops and poses and directing was kind of nice.
